Terms of Service

Welcome to vlogtube.app ("VlogTube," "we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using any part of our website, mobile view, or related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy & Content Policy.

If you do not accept all of the Terms, please do not use VlogTube.

1. Who May Use the Service

  • You must be 13 years or older (or the minimum digital-consent age in your country).
  • If you are under 18, you need the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
  • You promise that any registration information you submit is accurate and complete.

2. Your Account

  • Keep your password confidential; you're responsible for activity under your login.
  • You may not share, sell, or transfer your account.
  • Notify us immediately at support@vlogtube.app if you suspect unauthorised use.

3. Subscriptions & Payment

  • Some features require a paid plan handled by Stripe.
  • Fees are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis.
  • No surprise renewals: we e-mail you at least 3 days before each renewal.
  • You can cancel any time; access remains until the current billing period ends.

Refunds — we follow a simple rule: "7 days, no questions." Cancel within seven (7) days of your first payment to receive a full refund.

4. Limited Licence to You

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to:

  • stream embedded YouTube videos inside our player;
  • view our bilingual subtitles and study materials;
  • download vocabulary lists for personal study only.

You may not scrape, reproduce, or commercially exploit any part of the Service without prior written consent.

5. Content Ownership 📺

  • YouTube creators retain full copyright in their videos; VlogTube merely embeds them via the official YouTube API.
  • Subtitles, quizzes, and explanatory notes created by VlogTube are owned by VlogTube and licensed to you under Section 4.
  • If a creator wants removal of an embed, we comply within 48 hours (e-mail: copyright@vlogtube.app).

6. User-Provided Material

If you post comments, upload pronunciation clips, or send feedback:

    You grant VlogTube a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, and use that material to operate the Service.

    You retain all other rights in your content.
  3. 3
    You confirm that your material does not infringe anyone else's rights or violate any law.

We reserve the right to remove content that we believe is unlawful, harmful, or abusive.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • reverse engineer or circumvent any security feature;
  • attempt automated bulk-downloading of subtitles or vocabulary;
  • use the Service to harass, spam, or defame others;
  • upload malware or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our servers.

Breaking the rules may lead to immediate suspension or termination of your account.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available."

VlogTube makes no warranties—express or implied—about:

  • accuracy or completeness of translations;
  • uninterrupted or error-free availability;
  • fitness for a particular purpose.

Learning results vary by individual effort; we can't guarantee fluency.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, VlogTube and its officers, employees, partners, and affiliates will not be liable for:

  • indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages;
  • lost profits or data;
  • any claim exceeding the fees you paid to VlogTube in the 12 months before the event giving rise to liability.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations; in such cases, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted.

10. Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time under Settings → Danger Zone.
  • We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or create risk for us or others.
  • Sections 5, 8, 9, 11, and 12 survive termination.

11. Governing Law & Disputes

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
  • Amicable first: contact us within 30 days of a dispute; we'll try to resolve it informally.
  • If no resolution, disputes will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court.
  • EU consumers may also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll:

    update the "Last updated" date;
  3. 3
    provide 14-day advance notice for material changes via e-mail or in-app banner.

Continued use after changes means acceptance of the new Terms.
